Birmingham Museum of Art

The Birmingham Museum of Art (BMA) was in the middle of challenging transitions—an imminent change in leadership due to retirement of a long-serving Director, a secularly declining attendance, and a steady erosion of relevance to its immediate community. Chora helped the BMA find a new footing by developing the vision of the organization, sharpening its strategic focus and priorities, charting ambitious strategic directions and tactics, and training staff and Board on how to better adapt to a shifting cultural landscape and reach agreed goalposts.

Chora interacted with us as true colleagues fully understanding the particular planning and management issues of art museums. Working cooperatively with staff and board, they created a challenging but realistic strategic plan that both provides a vision for our future and will guide us tactically in our daily work.
